How do i connect ceiling fan/light dimmer switch to the wall switch?
In the directions, it says "connect hot wire in wall box to black wire on controll" & "red wire from control box to lamp lead in the wall box" & " yellow wire from controll to the fan lead". How do i know which is the hot wire from wall box and lamp lead wire and fan lead wire? I live in Ontario canada.

Usually, here in Ontario, the black wire is the "HOT" or power wire. Go to Home Depot or rona ot home hardware and get an inexpensive power tester. It looks like a yellow marker with a pocket clip, normally. Keep the wires totally seperated, and place the tester on the black first, then the white. Whichever wire has power will cuase the test pen to flashh and in some models beep! This is your power wire.
Once you have determined which wire is hot, just follow the direction for the fan. WARNING!!! Once you have determned the hot wire, before you do ANYTHING else, tape the wall switch in the off position, so nobody can accidently turn it on while you're working! Only when you have completely marretted the connections, and grounded out the unit with the ground wire secured to the grounding screws, do you turn on the switch!
