Just installed a new vanity light and...?

After I hooked up and mounted I turned back on power and the all the lights came on just fine. But within about 10 minutes I started to smell electrical burn smell and the all the brushed nickel parts of the lights was burning hot ...to hot to touch. Possible ideas as to why? Guessing the wiring but I wired it correctly ..black to black and white to white.. ground to ground and used wire caps... any advice?

If you haven't already, remove & disassemble the fixture. Look carefully for a nicked wire, unless this is a flourescent fixture, then suspect the ballast.

Either way, I'd take the fixture back to the store.
