An Online Guide To Doors And Handles
Doors! Yes, we have all come across that word so far, but have we ever pondered over the making and texture of something that we so often use? No. So let us now enter the world of doors. According to its dictionary meaning, a door is a mobile, mostly solid barrier for opening and closing an entrance way, cupboard, cabinet or the likes; commonly turning on hinges or sliding in grooves. But that is not all. Browsing through the history of doors, the world's oldest door is situated in Westminster Abbey, England.
Doors are used for innumerable purposes, the basic ones being: security, privacy, convenience and to block out unwanted noise and distractions. Along with that, they are also used for aesthetic purposes. Some doors which have intricate carvings on them tend to beautify houses and buildings. Doors not only make simple, unappealing walls look exquisite, they also capture one's attention. It should, however, be kept in mind that there are many things that contribute to the making of a door.
There are various types of doors, such as a trap door, a blast proof door, a garden door and a pet door. But in this article, we are going to throw some light in hinged doors and sliding doors. Doors that are most commonly used are hinged from one side so the door swings from one side and not the other.
A door consists of several parts, for example, a door closer which is a device that is used to open and close a door mechanically. Another integral ingredient are the hinges which helps in joining one part of a door to the frame that enables the other end to sway back and forth, as per requirement. Next, comes the door handle. Many doors have one door handle with a latch attached to it. Some doors, however, have knobs screwed to them, which need to be turned in order to release the bolt.
There are many types of household handles. The Boss Bar, which has just recently been introduced to the market has a European origin. It consists of a very special design. Instead of using one piece 'D' style design (Molecular D Bar Handles) or inset legs (T Bar Handles) its makers have built a version that comprises of three different parts: the bar and two end 'boss' fixings. The bar is situated within the two side fixings which gives it a very classy look. The 22 meter Boss handles which are very sophisticated and elegant, are also durable and long lasting.

Any ideas on how to lock my cabinet doors to keep my 10mth old out?
There are no handles on the doors, they are just flat in the front.
Thanks for any suggestions!!
MAGNETIC LOCKS!! We used these for my sister (who is significantly younger than myself). She was too smart for her own good and figured out all the other child locks! We finally discover the magnetic ones and it was a god send. They'll work without handles. One piece goes inside the cabinet and then you use the magnet on the outside to open it.
