How I can put a satin finish oil on my battery?

I have a pdp z5 whole. It's silver. But I want to do with a black background with blue top discoloration. I've been playing drums for 15 years and I just painted one of my sets (my first) and lets just say it was not too pretty but it was a fun project for a child trying to learn about your insturment. Anyway I want to do this satin color (as some drums dw). Do not want to shine him. Then I will put black hardware on it! I know that seems incredible. I do not know how to begin. I have never used oil before and honestly Satin I not even know what it is. I know how to pull everything off the hood (wraps) and sand it down a bit. but that's all I know. Do I have to primer one or two coats? idk. so if u can help let me know. oh thanks is a recap of my battery. so I have a little easier now.

First once, and a layer of paint. Apply as little paint as possible so the drum doesn't natural resonance is affected .. and by the way how'd finish or remove the drum? ive tried it before, but I messed up
