How I can finish quilted maple veneer?

I am building cabinets.the frames and borders are the oak door with red as the gel stain shallec dark and finished with high gloss poly so its dark stain undertones.the red panels are veneered with quilted maple veneer.the problem im having is i cannot seem to find an end to the plate that shows the depth of the veneer and the oak still matches framing.i really want to get to deep quilted maple

Assuming you do not want to stain the maple quilted, I just Danish oil, 2 layers, then finished with polyurethane or shellac, but not so, no need using both the lacquer and poly urethane, use one or the other. quilted maple looks awesome dyed with aniline dye yellow and further Bettero aniline-dyed orange. Pictures of it when its done? Id like to see your masterpiece!
