NELP I with my kitchen decor!?

Right now my walls are deep red (Granada). I have white cabinets that red as accents in the furrows, black and white linoleum check (i plan to change in the future because they are a pain in the neck), black and stainless steel appliances, table and chairs in black, and black colored surfaces. We are planning to get new countertops and paint the walls and cabinets for probably just plain white. Any ideas for wall color and type of tops?

In one of the HGTV show, which appears almost anyone with their situation. They had white checkered floor and black cabinet white with black accents. White cabinets painted and brought a good blue-green color of the walls and some beige accessories basket as a floor mat and wall art toned down the floor and made it less of a focal point and still left him as its dramatic impact on the environment.
